Several of you have received a note like this already, but this one has a bit more important information!
This Salute to Veterans Car & Motorcycle Show was the biggest ever! We had 450 vehicles including 370 cars, 44 bikes, all kinds of military vehicles, police and fire vehicles, Optimus Prime, and assorted others…including the Huey!
We have grown, in the past 11 years, from 89 cars (which was huge for a first Car Show) and one motorcycle! Our first event featured our small BBQ, a Blue Grass Band, 10 trophies, and that’s it! We have added Food Carts, Silent Auction, Veterans’ Ceremony with Fly Overs, helicopters including a Huey, Loach and Black Hawk, Pipe Band, R&R Bands, DJ, Vendors, Miss Oregon, Star Wars Characters and Super Heroes (for fun for kids of all ages), Kid’s Activities, a Motorcycle Run, a Howitzer, WWII Tank, Coast Guard and Wa. Co. Rescue Boats, and much more! It has become a community event that everyone looked forward to.
Because of the support of people like you we have raised almost $300,000.00 – all for our local veterans in need.
It is with sadness, yet pride, that I share with you that this was my last event. Our Board of Directors has also voted to dissolve the Saluting Our Veterans Non-Profit and the dba Salute to Veterans Car & Motorcycle Show. There is no one who has the knowledge nor the time to carry it on at the level it has become.
I have devoted 11 years to growing this wonderful event and have loved every minute of it! But the bigger it gets, the more work it becomes. Because of my husband’s health issues I must step back and refocus…
I have a wonderful Board who helped out a lot this year, and lots of great volunteers on the ‘day of’. I am grateful for all of them. And I am grateful for you and all of the others who have been supporting us with donations, as well as with amazing vehicles … many of you whom have been with me since the first Show in 2012!
Our paths may cross again one day! Thank you again for your support and friendship.
